Bitches (NC-17) Bitches She entered the office, not expecting company. Mulder looked up and smiled. "Scully, I’d like you to meet Veronica Stuart. She’ll be working with us for the next few weeks. Ronnie, this is Special Agent Dana Scully." Scully held out her hand and took in this woman’s appearance. Tall, probably 5’10", long dark hair, okay luscious dark hair, big eyes, big. . . shit. How many weeks? "Pleased to meet you, Ms. Stuart." "Oh please, I’m Ronnie. We’re going to be working together, no need to be formal, right?" Her voice was husky, deep. She had to be supplementing her income with phone sex. "Of course. I’m Dana." Now, how was ‘Fox’ going to work this one? "I specifically requested an internship with Fox, I’d heard so much about his profiling abilities. I wanted to learn from the master." The master? Oh holy mother. And look at that grin on his face. Didn’t she have some vacation due? "Well, I’m sure ‘Fox’ will be a very good teacher." Mulder glanced over at her then, and finally saw her expression. He cleared his throat and went to find a spare chair for Ronnie to use. Later in the morning, when Ronnie had gone to take a break, he turned to Scully. "Don’t you like her?" "What’s not to like, Mulder?" She replied blandly. "Come on, Scully." "Look, she’s here to learn from the master, it’s not my place to interfere. Right?" "I didn’t say that and I didn’t request her, but she’s bright. Give her a chance, okay? Please Scully, it won't be for that long." "So you don’t think she’s bucking for my job?" "No one could take your place, Scully. Come on, smile. She’s just a visitor, no where near the status of partner to the master." He had that ‘love me because I’m adorable’ look on his face. She struggled not to smile, "Excuse me, Mulder, while I go throw up." "That’s a sport!" A sport? Her eyebrow rose. Oh wow, here he was caressing some strange woman with his eyes and he called her a sport. She really needed to check that vacation schedule. Okay, she’d put this aside, do her work and not let this get to her. Ronnie would be gone soon enough and things could get back to normal. Well, normal for them. ***** The autopsy bay was no place for heels. Ronnie would figure that out eventually, even if they did make her legs miles long. Scully shook herself, she was not dumpy, she was merely shorter than the other woman. It was a good thing that Mulder had to look down to see into her eyes. But did he have to take Ronnie’s arm so often? "I’m fine, Fox. I probably shouldn’t have had all that wine last night." Ronnie cooed at Mulder. Wine last night? Scully turned her face away so that Mulder wouldn’t see her reaction to that. Not that she should have had a reaction; he was a big boy and could see anyone he wanted to off-hours. So why couldn’t she stop visualizing a rendezvous on Mulder’s couch? No, he wouldn’t take her there, Ronnie’s hotel room. That would be cozier. Shit. Concentrate on the damn autopsy Dana. That’s your job, not worrying about your partner’s sex life. Sex life? Why hadn’t she thought love life? Arghhhh! ***** Scully had already reached her limit with Ronnie. Nobody should be able to keep up such an airhead act for this long. And Mulder was eating it up. She’d known he was a boob man, but hadn’t realized how afflicted he could become. Now being out of town and having to share a room with Miss America was sheer torture. Scully had never taken that much makeup or wardrobe on a trip. And that lingerie! She cared about her appearance, but this was ridiculous. She was also tired of having her toes being trod on by Ronnie trying to be closer to Mulder. When they were handling an investigation, there were times she needed to stand next to the man, for god’s sake. And just when had he lost his ability to discern honest compliments from the babble Ronnie was spouting? This was supposed to be a serious investigation. An X-file, which made it even more vital that every T was crossed and she hadn’t even been able to have a full conversation with Mulder since they’d arrived. The problem was she wasn’t sure she could get his attention if she paraded naked into his hotel room. Not that she would ever do that, but. . . oh shit. Well finally, access to the bathroom. She’d finish getting ready and they could head over to the lab. She brushed past Ronnie; they were beyond the polite chitchat now. Ronnie clamed up immediately when Mulder wasn’t around, there was no need to try to worm her way into Scully’s good graces. Not that she could have. Ronnie wanted to talk to Mulder and only showed her true bitchy self to Dana. When Dana emerged from the hotel room, the car was gone. They were gone. My God was he so addled by Ronnie that he didn’t notice she wasn’t in the car? What now? Did she grab a cab and meet them at the lab? She had a good mind to just hop on the next plane and see how long it took him to notice. No, she’d never give Ronnie the satisfaction. Her temper simmered all of the way in. Of all the inconsiderate. . . he drove off and left her! She was seething and barely under control when she entered the lab. "Well, Dr. Scully. How nice of you to join us." Mulder drawled sarcastically. "What?" She watched Ronnie slip out of the room. Well, that was interesting. What had Ronnie done now? "You could have told me you were off having breakfast with our attractive young sheriff. Scully, you can see anyone you want to, but you could have let me know." He ignored her look of incredulity and plunged on. "Look, you’ve made it very clear you don’t like Ronnie or want to work with her, but I thought you would at least act professionally while we’re on a case." Her mouth gaped open, then without a word she turned on her heel and stalked out. She actually wanted to shoot him this time. What a son of a bitch! A blind, hormone-overloaded son of a bitch. To hell with him! "Dr. Scully? Dr. Scully, excuse me. Are you okay?" "What? Sorry. You were looking for me?" She’d almost marched past the handsome sheriff she was supposed to have dated this morning. "Yes. We just got this fax in. I think it’s the lab results you were waiting for." "Oh, thanks." She took the papers and started flipping through them. Yes! That confirmed her theory. She knew who was responsible and now she could prove it. "Come with me, Gary. We’ve got work to do." They hurried back to his office. She explained the findings in the reports and listened to the dispatches until the man was in custody, then asked for a ride to the airport. "You sure you don’t want to stay for the questioning?" "I’m sure Agent Mulder can handle that. I’m needed in D.C." They stopped by the hotel and she was packed and out of the room in five minutes. She was able to grab a seat on the next flight, after finally turning off her phone from the incessant ringing. Unfortunately the flight gave her the time to go over and over Mulder’s words. How dare he speak to her that way? He wasn’t her superior. And she’d been very professional in her dealings with Ms. Stuart, well maybe not in private, but that wasn’t entirely her fault. Just how professional had he been with her? Wine, meetings after hours, driving off without her. Ronnie had to have been the one who told Mulder she was with the sheriff, and that meant she’d lied, since Ronnie damn well knew she was in the bathroom finally getting ready. What else had she lied to Mulder about? And why wasn’t he seeing through her? Were his hormones that inflamed? Well to hell with it. If Ronnie wanted him that bad, she could have him. They’d make great partners. He’d certainly never been inflamed by her. Ronnie’s total belief in his ‘abilities’ should go a long way toward solving cases. ***** She was ready for bed when the pounding began on her door. She knew instantly who it was. She opened the door without a word and he fairly burst into the room. He grabbed her by the arms and turned her toward him. "Are you alright?" "Of course." "Then what the fuck did you think you were doing! God, Scully I was sick with worry. You don’t just vanish like that without a word to me. Jesus!" She actually felt a little contrite at that, it hadn’t occurred to her that he’d have flashbacks to other disappearances. The contrition didn’t last long. He released her and collapsed onto her couch. "What the hell is wrong with you, Scully?" "With me! You overgrown, testosterone addled shit! Nothing’s wrong with me! You’re so busy pampering Ms. Ronnie you don’t have a clue what I’m thinking or doing. Driving off without me this morning was the last straw, Mulder. I’ve had it. You and Ms. Stuart can just go of and investigate all you want." "She explained that, she thought you had left and. . . " "Bullshit! If you believe that. . . " "At least she doesn’t blow me off, Scully." "How does she blow you, Mulder?" Her fury taking her beyond common sense. Mulder gaped at her, for once unable to come up with a retort, taken completely by surprise by his usually proper partner. When he found his voice, he looked directly in her eyes. "Do you think we’re having sex, Scully? I don’t do that with people I work with. I would have thought of all the people on the planet, you would know that." Her glare softened a little. "Ronnie’s never going to be the agent you are, Scully. And it’s precisely because she thinks she’ll get ahead using her body and her sex appeal instead of her brain. She probably will rise to a certain level, but not like she’s hoping. She’ll never be really trusted with her own investigations. "As for have I enjoyed the past couple of weeks, hell yes. She doesn’t treat me like I have the plague and she hasn’t called me Spooky to my face a single time." He shook his head. "Oh hell. I know you’re safe, so I’ll head home. See you at the office." He rose from the couch. "Wait." "Why, Scully? You want to kick them physically this time?" Her eyes filled and she turned away. Shit, he’d made her cry. It would be nice if just once he knew the right thing to do where she was concerned. How could she make him so angry and so guilty at the same time? "You never act like that with me." She said in a small voice. "Scully, you don’t act like she does, thank goodness. I never thought. . . I. . . oh god, you can’t be jealous?" "No! I. . . " "You are!" A smile was beginning to form. "I am not, I just. . . oh shit, I’ve been comparing myself to her for two weeks and I just couldn’t. . . " "Comparing? Why in the hell would you want to do that?" "Want to! I didn’t want to, how could I not? It’s been like living with Dolly Parton with extra long legs." He couldn’t quite stifle the chuckle. "I’m sorry, Scully. It didn’t occur to me that you would even notice her ‘attributes’." "Not notice, when you’ve been drooling all over our paperwork?" "I have not! I swear Scully. I might have enjoyed the view, but only as a tourist. That’s not what I’m looking for." "Oh come on. She could star in any one of those videos you don’t own." He blushed at that, "Scully, I. . . geez don’t you ever get lonely?" "Lonely, Mulder?" "Okay, this conversation isn’t going anywhere I want to go. I think I’d better get out of here." "I’m not sure I can face either one of you tomorrow." It suddenly hit her, she’d been as big a bitch as Ronnie, and she had no excuse. At least not one she was going to admit. "You won’t have to face her, I’m asking Skinner to reassign Ronnie tomorrow. I can’t allow her to mess up what we. . . what I have with you. You may not think I treat you like I treat her, and you’re right. The difference is I respect you. "Scully, don’t ever think I don’t look at you like a woman. I’ve just learned to control myself over the years." He tried to smile, "You’ve made that a lot more difficult now." He stood again and she joined him. He put his hands on her shoulders. "Scully, please, in the future, no matter how mad you get at me, and we both know that’s going to happen, don’t vanish on me. Please." He pulled her into his embrace and she allowed it, putting her arms around his waist and murmured into his chest. "I’m sorry, Mulder. I’m. . . " That had been a mistake, putting his arms around her. Not a good idea at all. Between his fear for her and then his anger at her, his adrenaline was too high. She drew back from him, her eyes questioning. He gave her that goofy half grin and shrugged. She placed her hand on his chest, feeling his heart race in his chest. Her thumb accidentally brushing his nipple. He hissed, and she dropped her hand as though she’d been burnt. "Fox is out of his cage." He nodded, no way to deny it. "For me?" "God, Scully, you still don’t get it. He tolerates what I force on him, but on his own, he only wants you." No need to admit she was the only one he wanted as well. She reached out again without thinking, to caress him through his slacks. At the last second he grabbed her hand, though it had become obvious part of him had tried to meet her half way. "Don’t." "Why not?" "Because. . . " Damn it was hard to form a sentence when there was no blood left in his brain. "Its. . . it’s not a good idea." "I think it’s an excellent idea, Mulder." He didn’t have a response to that. She sank back onto the couch. Eye-level with. . . this could not be happening. She loosened the belt on her robe. Damn, she’d never worn that on the road, was she cold? Her nipples. . . He didn’t notice one of his hands had taken control of itself and was fingering the spaghetti strap on her shoulder. He swallowed hard. "I’ve gotta go." "Please don’t." "Scully. . . you don’t want to do this." "Are you sure?" Well, he had no answer for that, but his legs didn’t seem to want to support him, so yet again he sank onto the couch. If this was such a huge mistake, why was he still here? She was tugging on his jacket sleeve, and he let her remove it. Then watched her slip his tie from around his neck. He gasped as she drew his shirt from his pants. She hesitated, then reached for his belt buckle. "Scully. . . " "Come with me." She rose and took his hand, pulling him onto his feet. "No, I just told you. . . " His voice died as she removed her top and dropped it on the floor. The sound that came from his chest seemed to be a growl and he had her crushed against him. "You have to stop this, Scully." His breathing was heavy enough to have been running laps. "I can’t. I won’t." He lifted her into his arms and carried her into her bedroom. He laid her gently on the bed, and loomed over her, an arm on either side of her body. "Scully?" "I’m sure." She whispered. He closed his eyes for a second, then lowered his mouth to her lips. He wasn’t going to be able to draw this out, this wasn’t exactly what he’d always fantasized, but in many ways it was a lot better. She’d managed to undo his belt and was tugging at his button. He rose from her and removed the rest of his clothes, then slid her moist panties from her body. She gasped and tensed when he began to enter her. "Scully?" "Its. . . it’s been a long time." "Maybe we should. . . " and then her hands on his hips took care of the problem. "God, Scully. . . " He breathed and began slowly to ease into the rhythm. She was so tight. He reached between then and gently stimulated her core, moving harder and faster. "MulDER!" She shattered into a million pieces, her spasms pushing him over the edge, his thrusts impaling her deeper and deeper. When he was capable again he lifted himself off her. "No!" "Scully, you have to breathe sometime." "Why?" He smiled at her and kissed her nose. "That was incredible." "You don’t know." "Umm?" "I’d never, I mean. . . " She focused on his chest, unable to meet his eyes. "Never what, Scully?" "I never had that happen to me before." "What? Scully, are you talking about your orgasm? Are you serious?" He couldn’t help but stare at her incredulously. She nodded, still unable to look at him. "Oh Scully." He buried his face in her neck. With him? She had reached that peak for the first time with him? He owned part of her now. He had for a long time, but not this part. Should he feel guilty for being grateful to another woman for being the catalyst of his number one fantasy? He had to see her eyes; he had to know what she was thinking. His finger under his chin brought her eyes up to him. He was totally unprepared for the look of love in her gaze. Whatever he had wanted to say was forgotten. He did not deserve this. Could he even live up to it? Well, he’d certainly die trying. He crushed her against his chest, "Scully, don’t leave me. Please, don’t ever leave me. I need you, I want you, Scully, I. . . I love you. I think I’m in love with you. I think I have been for a long time." "You don’t have to say. . . " "Scully." His mouth took possession of hers. When they finally broke for air, she had to smile at that gleam in his eye. "Can we try to do it again?" She had to chuckle, "I was hoping you’d want to." (Author’s note - Sorry I tried, I just couldn’t make him stupid!)
