Paradise By: Madame F F.B.I Building May 12, 1998 10:02am Dana Scully walked into the dark basement office, occupied by Mulder. Without looking up he mumbled his 'good morning' to her. She gave a small smile although he couldn't see it. Hm, must be something good he's reading. She looked into the coffee pot and frowned. Sighing loudly she went into the other room to make some coffee. That better be a darn good file he's mulling over, she thought as she left the room. The loud sigh made him look up from his work briefly. Wasn't Scully here a moment ago? Oh well. He shrugged and went back to his work. He was in deep concentration, when the phone rang, making him jump about a mile. Cursing obscenities under his breath he answered the phone. "Mulder." He cringed at the voice at the other end of the phone. Skinner. It was to early in the morning for this. Heck it was never the right time of day for a meeting with Skinner. He sighed and threw aside the file he was reading, just as Scully came in, sipping some coffee. "Don't get too comfortable Scully. Skinner wants to see us." Mulder said, grabbing his jacket. Scully pouted at her coffee. Mulder stopped in his tracks watching his partners generous lips poke out. Get your mind outta the gutter Mulder, he thought to himself. Scully sighed and while walking past him muttering. "What'd ya do now?" He smirked and walked after her. ************************ Skinners Office "Agents Mulder and Scully," Skinner greeted gruffly. He looked irked. Making Mulder and Scully all the more nervous. "Have a seat." He pointed to the seats and Mulder and Scully exchanged glances. Was this a chew out? "I have an unusual assignment for you two." He started. "It's what we do best sir." Mulder said with a hint of a smile. "No Agent Mulder, I mean unusual like its not really regulation. Now this is completely up to you. This assignment was given to you by the higher ups." He pointed with his chin at the man they didn't notice on the couch. "Agents Mulder and Scully. It's a pleasure to finally meet you. I've heard a lot about you which is why you were chosen for this assignment." The man said. Mulder was instantly on the alert. "What assignment would that be, Mr....?" Scully asked, just as suspicious. "I'm Chris Cartwright. " He extended his hand. "The new section Chief?" Scully asked. Mulder was still scrutinizing him but shook his hand any way. Scully followed and tried to refrain the urge to wipe her hand. "I know it isn't bureau policy to leave the country, but in this case. We need delegates." He said, looking at them seriously. "Delegates?" Mulder wasn't liking this. "Yes. There's a conference held in China. Delegates from around the world will be attending. We need delegates from the FBI. We've chosen you." This sounded safe enough. "When do we leave?" Scully asked. "Tomorrow." "Tomorrow?" They both asked in union. Smiling he nodded. "It will be fairly simple. You just need to show up and give a brief outline of the Bureau. The private jet will give you privacy to prepare whatever notes you need to get in order." Scully's eyebrow raised at the private jet thing. Why the heck were they being given such luxury. She shrugged off the feeling. Of coarse they're being nice. They gave us no time to prepare at all. "Well? Will you do it? For your country?" He smiled at them. Mulder nodded slowly. "Okay." He said simply. Scully nodded as well. "You two have the rest of the day off. I'll be joining you at the conference in two days." Skinner said. "Yes, sir. I guess we'll see you at the conference." Mulder said his hand on Scully's back. Leading her out the door they nodded to Kimberly, Skinner's secretary. "Why do you think they chose us?" Scully asked as they walked down the hall. Mulder shrugged. "I heard about the conference. It's basically a bunch of stuffed shirts sitting around discussing the well being of the world." He answered. "Personally, I would rather do my laundry." Scully smiled. "Well at least we got the rest of the day off." She said walking into their office. "Yea." He watched her frown at her now tepid coffee and turn to get her coat. She was so beautiful. He sighed and shook his head gathering his own things. He looked up upon hearing Scully's voice at the door. "See you at the airport Mulder." "Um, Scully wouldn't it make more sense if I just picked you up?" He asked suddenly. She gave him a look and said. "Okay. Pick me up at 8:00 and don't be late." She waggled a finger at him. "Who me? I'm Mr. punctuality." He smiled a dashing smile at her, making her heart stop for a moment. A sly 'Sure' was all she managed before she left. *********************************************** Scully's Apartment May 13th 7:48 There was a knock on the door. Scully had just stepped out of the shower. Muttering under her breath she wrapped her purple terrycloth robe around herself and went to answer the door. "Who is it?" It couldn't be Mulder, it was too early. But with Mulder.... "Mr. Punctuality." She smiled at the male voice. She opened the door but not before saying. "Come on in Mr. Punctual but we have to make it a quickie, my partner will be here at eight." She smiled at Mulder's suprised but amused face. "You've definitely been hangin around me too lo..." He just noticed Scully's lack of dress. Her robe was opened just a little, giving Mulder a tantalizing view of her cleavage. Scully followed his train of vision and gasped closing her robe a little. "Um, lemme just go change." She said, making her way to her room. Please, don't change, he thought to himself. I short while later Scully emerged, cursing. "What's up Scully? Didn't get what you want from Mr. Punctuality?" Mulder asked. Scully spared him a smile while concentrating on the back of her skirt. "I can't get the zipper in the back of this skirt." She muttered. "Well here lemme help you." Mulder said reaching around to find her zipper. They fidgeted with it for a while, her hands guiding his, until... "Yes! Got it!" Exclaimed finally. Scully sighed happily just realizing Mulders close proximity. His arms were wrapped around her intimately and his hands were dangerously close to her bottom. He must have noticed it too because his breathe caught and his eyes turned from green to a deep brown. Their breathing became shallow and she was sure he was going to kiss her. But lucky her the phone rang making them both jump about a mile and a half. After a long string off curses in her head she answered the phone. "Oh hi mom." She said unenthusiastically watching Mulder retreat to the couch. "What's the matter honey? You don't sound that happy to hear from me." Her mother said. "Oh no mom." Scully would never want her mother to think that she didn't like having her around. "Mulders here." "Oh." Maggie cut in knowingly. "We are going to the conference in China." She said with a bit of an edge. She new of her mothers ridiculous ideas of getting her and Mulder hitched and having babies. "Oh." Maggie said simply. Sure you're going to China. "Mom." She started warningly. "Okay okay. I just wanted to say bye and that I love you." Maggie said. Scully could hear her grinning. She couldn't help but grin too. "I love you too mom." "Tell Fox I say goodbye." "Sure mom. Okay bye." She hung up sighing. Busy body. She chuckled and turned to Mulder. The way the light was directed she could see the colors of his eyes clearly. They were doing that weird thing when they change colors. They were green for the moment. "Ready to go?" She asked, clearing him of the fog his mind was in. He looked up at her. "Yea." He said getting up to get her luggage. She almost refused but decided against it. They left, almost forgetting all about the almost kiss. Almost. ************************************************** Over the Pacific May 13th 5:32 Mulder had drifted to sleep a little over an hour ago and Scully put down her report and closed her eyes. They had about a few hours left to go before they got to China. So said the pilot. Suddenly the plane started to shudder, causing Mulder to wake up with a jump. Scully was alert and looking around cautiously. "What the heck was that?" She asked the pilot. "I-I don't know." The pilot replied. He was obviously nervous and was checking all the gears. The plane shuttered again, but this time the engine made a loud shuttering sound. All started to look around frantically. Suddenly there was a loud explosion. They jumped looking out the window dumbly watching the flames. Mulder realized that the plane was nose diving. "Oh my gosh!" The pilot yelled, pulling up on the wheel. He finally gave up on it and yelled for them to find parachutes, which they were already doing. Scully looked back panicked. The parachutes were gone. They couldn't think of anything else to do but duck. Mulder held Scully tightly as she unknowingly whimpered. They last thing they heard was the sound of the plane hitting the water before everything went black. ************************************************* Skinner's Residence May 14th 12:31am Skinner grumbled when he heard the phone ring at such an ungodly hour. He opened his eyes to look at the woman lying next to him. Sharon was trying to pretend she didn' t hear the phone. Doing a terrible job. He smiled. He was lucky his wife took him back. Kissing her softly he reached over and picked up the telephone. "Hello." He answered gruffly. He was quite annoyed. This better be good. He listened for a moment and then sat straight up in bed. "What!?" He yelled. Sharon was quite awake now. "What do you mean they never arrived!?" He yelled. He listened for another moment and slammed down the receiver, getting out of bed. "Walt, what's wrong?" Sharon asked sitting up. He was half way dressed and turned to her with a grave expression. "Mulder and Scully never made it to China. Their plane is missing." Sharon gasped. "Oh Walter. You don't think...no. They have to be all right." Sharon was very fond of Mulder and Scully. She knew Walter was too. He nodded slowly. He went to sit down on the bed embracing his wife. She returned the embrace, kissing him softly on the lips. "You'll find them. I mean this is Mulder and Scully we're talking about." She said. "Exactly. That's why I'm so nervous." He said, scowling a bit. **************************************************** Unknown island May 14th unknown time The warm wind blew lightly over his head which pounded like a drum. Mulder groaned and looked up. Coughing and shaking his head, his vision cleared a bit. He appeared to be on the shoreline of some beach. It was much too warm to be anywhere near Asia. And he doubted they had palm trees there either. That means they had gone off coarse somewhere along the line. He shook his head again. It was a miracle he wasn't dead. And Scully.... Where was Scully? Trying not to panic, he got up on wobbly legs, and began to walk down the beach yelling her name. "SCULLY!! SCULLY!! IS ANYONE HERE? SCULLY!!" She had to be there. She had to be alive. Or he would lie down and die right then and there. ******************** Scully's head hurt. That was an understatement. She felt like she'd been through the dryer at least five times. She remembered the crash and faintly remembered herself floating to shore or something like that. She was sure she'd died. And Mulder..... Oh gosh Mulder. Oh God please let him not be dead, she thought to herself. She got up, ignoring the searing pain in her head. She staggered and tripped over something, no someone. With wide eyes she turned to look at the cold lump she'd tripped over. It was the pilot and he was dead. She felt a little bad sighing in relief. It wasn't Mulder. But she may very well find him in the same condition. Panicking she got up again yelling at the top of her lungs. "MULDER!!!!" *************************************************** F.B.I Building May 14th 8:37am Skinner had been on the phone the whole night. No one was cooperating. He asked, bribed, bamboozled, actually begged for help. Then he lost his temper. "You like your job?!! You wanna keep it?!! I want some answers and I want them NOW!! You are a federal agent! You have sources. I want you to find them and I don't care how!" He slammed the phone down and put his head in his hands. Apparently there was some stupid rule that they had to be missing 48 hours or some crap like that. Suddenly there was a loud knock on the door and a very frazzled looking redhead walked through. Jackie St. George was not a happy dragon. "Where are they?" She demanded. "Who?' Skinner asked knowing full well who she was talking about. "Cut the crap Skinner you know who I'm talking about. Mulder and Scully, They didn't make it to China." Jackie said, getting thoroughly pissed off. "How did you find out about this?" Skinner asked, rubbing his eyes. "Word gets around. Where are they." It wasn't a question. "If I knew I wouldn't be getting a migraine right now. They were supposed to be there at 9:00 last night. We have to wait 36 more hours until we can initiate search. I' m trying to pull some strings but.." He shook his head helplessly. Jackie's shoulders slumped a bit. Looking out the window she briefly considered going down to the airport and spilling some blood to get a few answers. She shook her head and sighed. They were out there. As long as they were together they had to be alive. ************************************************** Unknown island May 14th unknown time Mulder had been walking for awhile now. He hadn't found Scully yet and he hadn't found any other signs of life. He closed his eyes and prayed she was still alive and that she would find her. He opened her eyes at the faint sound of a voice. It was female. He strained his ears, listening. He'd recognize that voice anywhere. He began to run towards the voice. "Scully? SCULLY!" "MULDER!!" She was in sight now and she was running towards him. She ran into his arms almost knocking him over. "Mulder, oh Mulder." "Scully. I thought I'd lost you." He whispered, burying his face in her hair. "Mulder the pilots dead. I was so sure you were too." It was then he realized she was crying. "It'll be okay Scully. It'll be okay." He murmured into her hair. She squeezed him around the waist and pulled back. "I'm okay Mulder. Do you have any idea where we could be?" She pulled away reluctantly. He could feel her reluctance and caressed her cheek with the back of his hand reassuringly. "We must have been really of coarse to be anywhere near Asia. If I had to guess, I'd say we were some where south. In a warm climate place. Indonesia maybe." He said shrugging helplessly. Scully nodded. "I think we should start walking just in case we're near civilization. We also need to bury the pilot." She suggested looking at Mulder. "Okay but let's walk along the shoreline afterwards just to be safe." He said looking uncertainly in the forest. She nodded and they started to walk to where Scully had left the pilot. After burying the pilot they walked for what had to be hours. They finally decided to go back, which took another couple of hours. The sun was setting and they were very hungry. It was getting cooler and Mulder suggested that they make a fire. It was as they sat with no signs of life but animals and themselves that Mulder came to a conclusion. They were on an island. A deserted island. With no hopes of escape. *********************************************** F.B.I Building May 14th Mulder and Scully had been missing for over forty-eight hours. No sign of their plane at all. Skinner and Jackie had been spending the better part of their day at the coast guard office. Jackie had gone to question some people with Marty. Maggie Scully and Caroline Mulder had been contacted about their children's disappearances. They'd been devastated and asked for hourly reports. They had been getting nowhere fast. And the clock was ticking. *********************************************** Unknown Place May 15th Unknown time Mulder was no boyscout, but he had fed them just the same. He fished and Scully found some fruit that she deemed safe to eat. They'd slept curled up together by a fire she'd made. They talked out their situation after breakfast. They were arguing over whether to build a shelter or look for civilization. Mulder sighed and voiced his revelation to Scully. "Scully. I think we're on an island. There is no civilization besides us." She looked at him a moment. "But Mulder how? That impos-" she cut off at the look he gave her. Taking a small look around she sighed. It wasn't impossible. She just didn't want to admit it to herself. "Well okay it's not impossible. So what are we gonna do now?" She asked helplessly. She looked like she was going to cry. He crawled over to her and pulled her to him. "We'll make it Scully. We've been missing for two days now. They're looking for us. But we need to give them something to find." She nodded. "Okay Mulder." They set to work on a house. They would sometimes stop and rest and eat. They'd spent the whole day working hard on their shelter. Going into the woods to find more palm trees and sap to hold it together. The next day they would venture deeper into the island to see if there was any water sources. Scully was walking back to where their 'home' was when she spied something out of the corner of her eye. She walked towards it, wadding into the water. Mulder had stopped what he was doing o watch her. "Scully?" But her attention was elsewhere. She recognized the material, it was her suitcase. It had some how floated to shore. She smiled. "Mulder look!" She yelled holding up her waterlogged suitcase. "Think anything there fits me?" He yelled back smiling. She laughed. "Sorry Mulder. Not unless you can find a way to shrink you're outta luck." He chuckled at that and motioned for her to come back. They still had not finished. But it was better than nothing. Scully looked at the house from far away and nodded. "Pretty good so far Mulder. Why are we in the FBI? We can build houses for a living." Mulder laughed. "Ya Fox and Dana's housing company. If ya don't like palm trees get the heck out." She laughed as well. Finally they sat down to eat. Not much but it had to do. Finally settling into their respective beds, a whole bunch of palm leaves, they went to sleep. It wasn't hard, building a house wasn't easy work. Mulder looked up at the full moon and went straight to sleep. *************************************************** Later that night Mulder was awakened by shaking and Scully talking to whispering to him frantically. "What?" He said a little too loudly. She shushed him and pointed to her ear. A sign for him to listen. He did. And then he heard them. The drums. Mulder crawled out of bed and to the window. From where they were positioned, he could see the primitive looking boats with the men in them. "Mulder." Scully hissed. "What are you seeing?" He shushed her and motioned for her to put out the fire. She did so and turned to him. Mulder was making his way towards the door. "Mulder where are you going?" She whispered. He pointed towards the door. "I wanna see who they are and what they're doing?" He answered. She stopped him with her hand. "No, Mulder please. Stay here. Stay here with me." She whispered clutching his arm. Her eyes pleaded with him. And he saw real fear. Crawling back to her side. He nodded laying down, pulling her with him. She snuggled closer to him, holding onto him tightly. "I won't go anywhere Scully. I'll stay with you. I won't let anyone hurt you." He murmured. She hated to be so weak. Especially in front of Mulder. he just held her tighter. He wished he could do more to quell her fear. He hated to see her so upset. She was vulnerable. And he knew she hated that. The only thing he could do was hold her and try to make her feel safe. It was all he could. Their safe haven wasn't safe anymore. They weren't on that island alone. ************************************************* F.B.I Building July 14th 8:37am "What?!" Jackie yelled out loud. Skinner sighed and said again. "They're calling off the search. It's been two months and," "Two months my a**!" She screamed. "The case is still open, Jackie. But it's looking bad. They're suspecting foul play." "Foul play?" She asked numbly. "Yes. Witnesses say they saw someone tampering with the engine. As far as the navy is concerned, they're all dead." "BULLSH*T." Jackie yelled. "I'm sorry Jackie. They were my friends too. There's nothing we can do." Skinner said sincerely. "So that's it? They're dead and gone, so let's just get over it, and move on with our lives?" She ranted. Skinner sighed and just looked at her with worry. Jackie's lower lip trembled and she turned on her heel and left, slamming the door hard enough for Edgar J, Hoover himself to hear. ****************************************************** Building in New York July 14th 11:23am "Is it done?" The man with the heavy British accent asked. "Yes. They've stopped the search. We need not worry about them meddling in our plans anymore." The fat man with the raspy voice said. The well manicured man winced a bit. "Are you *sure* they're dead?" He asked. "No one could have lived through that. If the explosion didn't kill them, the crash would have. Mulder and Scully are dead." The fat man replied, shifting under the scrutiny of the old man. The well manicured man stared out the window, emotionless. "A pity." He whispered. ***************************************************** Graywood cemetary July 30th 2:38 They gathered from far and near. Some relatives, fellow agents, friends, and those from elite UFO groups such as MUFON and NICAP. A sea of black, mourning the last hope the world had to know the truth. Their last hope was Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Maggie looked around at the crowd that had accumulated. Who are these people, she asked herself. But then it didn't matter. Her baby girl was dead. Her last daughter. There wasn't even a body to bury. And that was what irked her the most. She looked at the woman next to her and squeezed her hand. She looked so much like him. The eyes. Caroline Mulder looked at Maggie Scully through teary, hazel eyes, and squeezed her hand back. Caroline Mulder was glad that they decided to bury their children together. If they couldn't be together in life then they had to be in death. It hurt her the most to know that Fox had never knew what real happiness felt like. To love and to be loved in return without holding back. In a way he had that with Dana Scully. She'd always liked her. So strong. But they never got to show eachother. He never got a normal life. He was still paying for the sins of his father. Not anymore. Not ever again. Jackie stood stone faced as the minister talked. She had argued with Maggie not to give up. But Maggie needed some closure. She understood that. She looked around at the flock of people. The gunmen were spread out, trying to be inconspicuous. About fifty of Mulder's ex-girlfriends had come. Some were sniffing others were crying miserably. Colton?! Mulder, you would have laughed at this, she thought to herself sadly. She smiled a little thinking of Mulder's odd laugh. Nothing would be the same without hearing Scully's melodic giggle. Mulder never thought he had that many friends. But he was so respected by more people than he could ever imagine. His work meant something to people. He was actually a hero of sorts. He looked deeper then others did. She sniffed and held Marty's hand tighter. He dared to dream... Skinner watched the crowd of people. He didn't recognize most of the people here. It appears my friend, more people believed in you're work than you think. As the herths were lowered side by side in to the ground, far in the back by a willow tree stood a man who let a tear fall and lit another Morley cigarette. *********************************************************** Unknown Island eight months later Told from Scully's point of view We have been on this island for eight months now. We haven't starved so I guess Mulder's been doing something right. I made the net so he does all the fishing. Our house, yes house has grown quite a bit since we built it eight months ago. It looks lik a beach house. We have our own respective bedrooms, unfortunatly. Unfortunatly? I'm so confused. Since we've been on the island Mulder and I have been a lot closer than we used to be. Maybe because we have come to depend on eachother so much. We see eachother every minute of everyday. Yes it does get annoying at times. He wants answers. He wants to know why they come. Every month the natives, I guess, come and do whatever. That is the scariest thing we've experianced on the island. When they come we stay low and very quiet in dark. I never knew I could stay that still for so long. Anyway Mulder wants to go 'investigate'. I don't want him to and I told him so. The whole thing terrifies me, but there is no way I'm about to tell Mulder that. I don't want to lose him just cause he wants to know. He's not going thank God. What would he do if he found out anyway? Write it on a piece of bark for further reference? Tell me about it for the rest my life. God knows I don't wanna know about it. So now here I sit, weaving a hat for the heck of it, if you can believe it. Mulder's out fishing. Again. Did I mention our dressing or lack there of. Our clothes are still staying together, but we are taking scraps of my clothing to make our own clothes. Not that I don't mind seeing Mulder sparsly dressed. I do, a lot. A whooooole lot. He's completely given up on wearing a shirt. I don't mind. He's so handsome. All the work has done him a lot of good. His arms are a lot more muscular and his chest and pecks are...ahhhh. Get your mind outta the gutter Dana. I walked a little ways down the beach to the ocean. "Hey Mulder, I'm going to the falls." I yelled. he waved back at me and yelled. "Come home soon honey!" I laughed. I've been laughing at him a lot more lately. I'm not sure why. Maybe I'm crazy. Crazy people will laugh at almost anything. I walk into the forest of palm trees. There is a beautiful lake on the island. There's a water fall next to it with rocks to climb on. There's also a hot spring on the island, in a thicket of bushes and vines. There has to be a dormant volcanic source here somewhere. I go there to unwind and for sore muscles from working too much. Hmm, a nice dip in the hot springs sounds nice. I strip what little clothes I have on and slowly slip into the water. Mmm, this is definatly what I needed. I sigh. I miss not having anyone to talk to. Sure there's Mulder, but I can't easily go up to him and say, "Hey Mulder I have this problem. I'm in love with you!" Yea right. He'd probably try and swim back to civilization by then. No I can't talk to him. I can't be with him. And that hurts even more. He doesn't love me. He just depends on me. I can't tell him that I love him. I can't because I...can't. I know it's a bad excuse but what else can I say? There's another thing that bothers me. We have been here for eight months. I'm sure they know we're missing. But they've probably stopped looking for us. They must all think we're dead. I know it's not very positive but it's the truth. We won't be rescued. If this is an unknown island then we'll never be found. They would've found us by now. I hug myself for comfort and much to my dislike, I whimper a bit. It's hopless. ********************************************************* Unknown island ten months later Mulder's point of view. Scully and I are not getting along at all. She's being, well she's being a party pooper to put it bluntly. I know it's been ten months since this whole mess, but can't she make the best of it? I have things undone too, but you don't see me whining about it. I do it in private. Speaking of which, she is puposly avoiding me. I can tell. I haven't worked with her for five years and not known when she was giving me the cold shoulder. It irked me then and it's pissing me off now. What's her problem anyway? She looks at me as though it's my fault we 're here. It's not my fault and I'm sick of this crap she's dishing me. She won't talk to me about how she's feeling. I know that every time the natives come to the island she's terrified. I can tell by the way she clutches onto me like I'm about to fly away. I have no one to talk to if I want to open up. We might as well be living on separate parts of the island. I know this is hard on her, but this has been going on for three weeks. I can see her coming, and to tell you the truth I'm not in such a good mode myself. But dispite the way she's acting I can't help but look at her and see how beautiful she is. Her skin is slightly tanner now and it looks gorgeous on her. I was afraid she'd burn in the hot sun but, she's managing. her hair has grown down to her shoulder in silky waves. She doesn't wear a lot of clothes, giving me a tantalizing view of her smooth, milky skin. Geez I love her. I love everything about her, except her currently aquired bad attitude. She approaches me with her constant frown and asks. "Where's dinner?" Me and *my* cocky attitude don't answer, but cock our heads instead. She gets an impatient look on her face and puts her hands on her hips. My breath catches for a moment as my eyes travel down to her curvy hips and thighs. "Well?!" She asks a little louder. "Oh did you say something?" I ask as though I'd just noticed her. She sighs loudly. "Where-is-din-ner?" She repeats as though she's talking to a two year old. "Oh dinner." I say nodding. She continues to look at me. I sigh and continue. "I didn't fish today." "Why?" She's getting peeved. "Cause I didn't. I'm the one doing everything around here. Instead of moping around the island, why don't *you* do something." I say raising my voice a bit. She looks suprised to say the least. "Mope? I mope?" "Yes you mope. You have since we got here. I do everything around here since you do jack sh-" I didn't finish my sentance. "What the h** is that supposed to mean? I do my part. And I don't mope." Her voice was raising as well. "Okay then, well you definatly have a problem. Is it the fact that you're stuck on the island or is it the fact that you're stuck with *me* on this island?!" I yell back. "What?! That's popostrous! It's not the island. I've delt with it!" She yelled. "Oh that's one h** of a way to *deal* with it! And I've noticed you said it wasn't the *island*. It's me isn't it? Isn't it!" I demand, more fiercly then I'd have liked. Scully looked at me with wide eyes. "I don't know what you're talking abo-." She started to say. "Look me in the eyes and tell me it isn't me that's bothering you." I stood and was towering over her now, tooking threatening. She stammered and involuntarily took a step back. "Isn't it!" I demanded. I was hopping mad now. She took another step back. "Stop it." She said quitedly, looking intently into my eyes. "What's the matter? Indestructable Scully about to cry? Well it's about time. It'll be a lot more emotion than you've shown in the last three weeks." I was treding dangerous waters and I knew it. I just wanted to piss her off as much as she'd been pissing me off. She looked like she was about to cry for a moment. I was about to apologize, when she pushed me hard, sending her and I pummuling to the sand. We struggled for awhile and Scully yelled. "Da*n you Fox Mulder! That's not fair! I've done more than my share. Always!" Did she mean the x-files? "Fine well I don't own you anymore so now you can be on your merry way." Bad choice of words. She punched me in the stomach, she was on top, so she could. "*You* *never* owned me! Never!" She screamed through clenched teeth. "I *don't* need you. I never needed you or the x-files or any of the crap you've given me over the years and I don't need or deserve this!" She was red now and very angry. I knew she was hurting, but me and my ego didn't care. "Then go! I should have stuck with Phoebe when I had the chance." I yelled back, adding the crack about Phoebe to make her mad, because I was mad. She turned redder if it was possible and punched me in the stomach yelling at the top of her lungs. "I HATE YOU FOX MULDER!!! I HATE YOU, I HATE YOU!!! YOU WANT ME GONE? FINE! I'M GONE!" She jumped up and ran off. I was in such shock that it barly registered to me when I got up and yelled back. "I HATE YOU TOO!" When it was a lie. The biggest lie of all. ***************************************************** Unknown island ten months later Mulder and Scully had drew lines between the island. Mulder had the longer legs so he got to the hut first. Scully refused to go in so she walked to the rocks that formed a cave near the ocean. Both their ego's kept them from going to eachother for help. The night of the natives had come. That night Scully was scared out of her mind. But she didn't go to Mulder. And he didn't go to her, although he was tempted to. Now Mulder really wanted to know what they were doing. So the next day Mulder went off into the forest to find the natives meeting place. Meanwhile Scully decided that she needed to eat and since Mulder had the fishing net, she had to use a spear she made. Her father had taught her how to fish with sticks when she was a little girl. She waded into the little lagoon and began to hunt for anything that moved. Mulder had been walking for awhile when he started to see the signs of people. Using his senses he creep up to a small clearing. What he saw made him gasp. Now that Scully thought about it, she was a sucky fisherman. With a spear anyhow. Hand her a fishing pole and she could feed Ohio for a week. She tredded deeper into the water and stepped on something. She cried out, feeling the spines enter her foot. Whimpering she managed to get to the rocks before collapsing. The stone statue stood at least 7 feet tall. It was nothing but a huge, ugly face. There was a large stone alter in front of the statue. He went to get a closer look. He noticed the remnants of a fire and from the nostrils of the statue blood ran. He closed his eyes and shook his head, stepping over the skulls decorated around the altar. There were sacrifices going on here. And that big statue must be their god of sorts. He looked down at the skulls. And every month they brought him a little tid bit. Mulder looked at the skulls for a moment and then bent down. They were so small like....He went numb. No. This was more than just a sacrifice. They were killing there own children. **************************************************** Mulder had walked around for a few days, analyzing what he'd seen. If he tried to stop them, he'd only be putting himself and Scully in danger. Scully. She must be worried sick about me, he thought to himself with sick satisfaction. He made his way back to the beach. He knew that she'd been staying at the rock cliffs in the lagoon. He closed in, seeing no movement. "Hey Scully I know ya don't *need* me or anything, but in case you haven't noticed my absence, I'm back." No answer. "Scully?" He climbed over the rocks and peeked into the cove. Scully lay there unmoving. "Scully?" He asked more urgently. He ran over to her and felt her head. She had a high fever and was laying in a pool of her own vomit. She was terribly thin and pale. "Oh God what have I done?" He lifted her up of the cold ground and took her to the hot springs. She was moaning now. "Mm-mmuulldderrr." Her words were slurred together. "I'm here Scully, I'm here." He said gently. "Let's get you cleaned up." He murmered. He began to lower her clothing. Picking up a sponge, he dipped it in the hot water and bathed her. He found that if he thought of really boring things he could forget the fact that the most beautiful woman on earth was lying naked before him. He wasn't even really thinking about it. She was sick and it was his macho ego's fault. After her bath he gathered her in his arms and brought her back to *their* home. He lay her in her bed and changed her. He gathered some blankets and nestled them around her. He tried to give her some water, but she only drank some of it. Without thinking, he lay down next to her and held her close. She felt his pressence and she would have smiled if it didn't hurt so much. He was feeling so guilty. He refused to leave her side the whole time she was recuperating. Not because he was obligated, but because he loved her. ************ Unknown island Eleven months later Scully was feeling much better, but it still had Mulder shaken. He thought he was going to lose her. He could never bear that. So he kept her close. They were very close now. Tonight was the night of the natives. Mulder hadn't told Scully about it yet and didn't intend to. In fact he wished he hadn't gone. It would only eat at his conscience for the rest of his life. So he never thought about it. Mulder had promised to take Scully to the falls today. So they walked there together to the falls hand in hand. Once there, they striped to their undergarments with out shame. They splashed around and felt free and happy for once. He turned to her, holding her still for a moment and said, "I'm so sorry Scully. I didn't mean any of the stuff I said. I-" She put her hand up to his mouth to quiet him. "No Mulder. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say that I don't need you, cause I do. I wouldn't change a day of the last five years. And I don't hate you. I lo-I don't hate you. Not at all." Almost said it. She put a hand on his cheek. "And thank you for taking care of me." "Anytime partner." They looked at eachother for a moment and then Mulder pulled away. Scully climbed up on a rock. She didn't know where Mulder went. Suddenly he literally flew past her on a vine, like Tarzan. He let go of the vine and splashed into the water. She looked down into the water looking around frantically. He popped up and pulled her in the water. She came up gasping and crawled back on the rock. Mulder looked at her grinning, his hair hanging, cutely in his eyes. She raised an eyebrow at him and pushed him back in the water. She took off laughing with glee, Mulder on her tail. He finally caught up with her and they rolled down a hill. They landed in some tall grass with Mulder on top. They finally stopped laughing, when they realized the position they were in. They stared at eachother intensly. Mulder saw that it was getting dark and nervously said. "Um, we oughtta go. It's um it's getting dark and.." He didn't finish, because in that moment Scully reached up,wrapping her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek, tenderly. He looked at her and returned the kiss, his own arms snaking around her waist. They began to kiss eachothers cheeks and noses. They didn't kiss eachother on the lips. They hadn't come to that stage yet. Now they were just testing the waters. Now it was getting really dark. They didn't want to be caught in the forest after dark. So reluctantly they got up and went to collect their clothes and go home. That night they slept in the dark. Mulder watched the moon move across the sky. He could tell when they came by the movement of the moon. He felt a warmth next to him. He looked down and saw Scully's luminescent, blue eyes stare up at him. He saw the same fear in her eyes as he saw the first night. "I'm so frightened Mulder." She whispered. "I know. So am I, Scully." He whispered back kissing her forehead. He pulled her to him and felt her stiffen when the drums could be heard. But still he held her close murmering nonsense to her. They fell asleep in eachothers arms that night, forgetting their problems. ************************************* The next morning Mulder woke up holding something warm. There was soft, steady breathing on his chest. He revelled in the feel of this woman in his arms and opened his eyes to the morning. He looked down at the shock of red hair at his chest and kissed the top. He slowly pulled away from her, trying not to wake her up. He smoothed her hair back and kissed her temple whispering. "I love you Scully." He kissed her once more. "I love you so much." He whispered. She'll never know, he thought sadly. He walked out to go take a quick dip in the falls, thinking Scully was asleep. When he left she opened her eyes and whispered back. "I love you too." ************************************* Unknown Island Same day Falls Mulder was waist deep in the lake, thinking about Scully. What had been keeping them apart then? FBI regulations, the consortium, his search for the truth, Samantha. But there was none of that anymore. Maybe not ever again. He'd always wanted to be with her. And he thought that maybe when all was said and done they could be together. Now nothing was stopping them, yet...It was so complicated. He sighed and scrubbed his arms. But still he longed for a refuge. A place where he could escape from life. In a way this was it. Suddenly he heard a plop next to him, then another, and another. He turned around and saw Scully standing on a rock with pebbles in her hands, looking very mischievous. "Hey Jane." He said. She raised an inquisitive eyebrow at him and said. "Jane?" "Yea. Me Tarzan, you Jane." He said adding a couple of grunts. Scully laughed. "Well Tarzan hold on to your loincloth cause here comes Jane." She said, jumping into the water. He laughed, barely catching her. She wrapped her arms around his neck. He laughed nervously. She kissed his chest and then his neck, swiveling her tongue on his skin. Mulders breath caught. "Sc-Scully, wa-what are you um, what are you doing?" He asked nervously. She nipped his chin. "Answering." She replied looking up into his eyes. "Answering what?" He asked. "I love you too Fox." She murmured. "Huh?" He couldn't believe his ears. "This morning you kissed me and told me you loved me, am I correct?" She asked. "I didn't think you heard that." He said turning white dispite his tan. "Well I heard. And now I'm replying. I love you Mulder. I always have." She said looking into his eyes. He stared at her for a moment and then gathered her into his arms and hugged her tight. "Say it again." He murmured. She smiled. "I love you...Fox." Her mouth inches from his. "I love you." Closer. "love you." "Love you so much." He whispered into her mouth. "So much." Closer. "Dana." Contact. Their arms tightened around eachother, their lips met again and again in kiss after passionate kiss. Their tongues dueling hotly, as over four years of sexual tension rose to the surface. The world began to dissappear around them as that final wall came tumbling down. Mulder picked her up so he could get better access to the soft moist lips that belonged to Dana Scully. She whimpered in need and wrapped her legs around his waist. Her hands tangled in his slightly long hair, one hand coming down to trace his jawline and caress his cheek. His hands weren't lazy either, as he caressed every part of her soft skin he could touch. Finally pulling away he whispered to her. "Marry me." She laughed and said. "That's so sweet Mu-Fox. But I don't see how. Under normal circumstances I'd say yes.." "Why?" He pulled back to look at her. "Why can't we get married, right here? We've been here for almost a year. We won't be rescued Dana. But I want to make life here on the island paradise for you. It won't be a USA wedding, but let's pretend. Come on." He put his forehead against hers. "Pretend." "Yes. I will marry you. I will." She said as he claimed her mouth in a passionate kiss. ************************************************************ Paradise By Madame F (Part 2) Unknown Island Same day That day, on a sea cliff over looking the ocean, Dana Scully and Fox Mulder stood before God and nature and became man and wife. They made vows to eachother and made little rings to exchange. Scully thought it was corny, but Mulder insisted. After the wedding they went to the hot springs. They slowly got into the water and began to kiss passionatly. Slowly and surly Mulder began to undress her. She shuddered with anticipation. He kissed, mouthed, and licked her neck and shoulders. She moaned his name. Throwing her clothes in the grass, he looked into her eyes expectantly. She then, in turn, took off his cloths, making her own venture around his body. He then picked her up and kissed her, his tongue flicking into her mouth, softly. She moaned feeling his tongue in her mouth and wrapped her legs around his waist. She responded to the kiss in kind her soft tongue delving into his mouth and bucking her hips once for him to get the message. He groaned and pressed back. Their lips separated with a smack. He nuzzled her face and she nuzzled back, making little mewing sounds at the back of her throat. His tongue flicked out to touch her lips. He began to touch his lips to hers with feather light touches. He kept on doing this until she lost patience and grabbed his head and devoured his mouth with a hot, hungrey kiss. He moaned at her impatience and began to inch his way up to shore, their lips still locked in a passionate embrace. He loved the feel of her hot, naked skin against his and longed to be deep inside her sweet depths. They now lay in the grass, him on top of her. The heat of passion and the hot mist rising from the spring labored their breathing and only served to whet their desires. They broke their kiss and he dropped soft delicate kisses on her nose and eyes and jaw. He worked his way down from there. He mouthed and licked the soft, salty skin in between her breasts, making her moan and arch her back seductively. His mouth found her nipples and she cried out feeling him suck and lick them. Her hand cupped his head as he kissed, licked, and sucked each one. They couldn't bear waiting any longer. He crawled back up her body and looked her deep in the eyes. He saw all the love, desire, and intensity mirrored in her eyes. They didn't break eye-contact with eachother as he guided himself inside her. They both moaned loudly. He began to move slowly, wanting this moment to last. Their movements were slow, each wanting to savour this moment when they finally came together. It seemed they had waited an eternity for this. They were finally one. All that was heard for awhile was the deep, throaty, labored breathing of them both. Their movements became faster and wilder as their passions grew. She'd never wanted anyone as much as she wanted Mulder right now. The only thing that was heard all over the island was Mulder's name screamed from Scully's lips and Scully's name screamed from Mulder's. ********************************************************** Unknown Island twenty two months after plane crash Mulder and Scully had been on the island for almost two years now. Ever since the day they'd told one another how they felt and had their own wedding, Mulder and Scully' s stay on the island had been a lot more pleasant. They never had any trouble with the natives. Mulder still hadn't told Scully about what he'd found out about the child sacrifices. They'd been in their own little happy bubble for a year now. He didn't want to ruin her happiness. Right now they were laying naked on the beach slowly and sweetly making love. Besides doing chores, it was one of their most frequent and favorite things to do. They spent that night making love as well, but it was much more frantic and wild. The next morning she lay in his arms tracing light lazy circles on his bare chest, making him shiver. She smiled and kissed his chest lightly and looked up at him. She saw his deep hazel eyes look down and meet hers. She reached up and kissed his lips softy. He moaned and pulled her down to him, letting the kiss escalate. She straddled his hips and without speaking she slid onto him. They made love until they were sated and satisfied. They both sighed and Mulder finally spoke. "Good morning to you too." Scully laughed at that and rolled over to look at him. He smiled lazily at her, pulling her small frame to his taller one. They cuddled for awhile, just enjoying the others company. "What do ya wanna do today sweets?" Mulder asked her. Scully opened her mouth, widened her eyes, and jumped out of bed. Mulder watched her run out. /Not again?/ he thought. He got up and went in the direction he saw her go. It didn't take long to find her. He just followed the sounds of her emptying everything in her stomach since her twelfth birthday. He pulled her hair back and waited for her to finish. This was getting to be an annoying habit of hers. She'd been like this for two days now. Mulder was worried the first time but then it went away around the afternoon. This was the third time in a week. He hoped this wasn't anything serious. Scully finally sat back against Mulder's chest. She closed her eyes and shook her head. How could she be so stupid? She had all the telltale signs. She could not believe this. Duh, Dana. When you get as much sex as you do, it was bound to happen, she thought to herself. "I'm sooo-ho stupid." She moaned. Mulder heard her. "Hey, don't say that about my wife." She didn't smile, but she did keep knocking her head against his shoulder. "Hey, Dana? What up?" He asked, now worried. She went through everything in her head once more to be sure and then turned around. "Oh Fox." It came out in a sob. "Dana,-baby what's wrong?" He asked holding her to him. "Oh Fox, I think-" She stopped and then took a breath. "I think I'm pregnant." She blurted out. "What?! How?! Oh well I know how, it's just we-pregnant?" He was absolutly shocked. "Mulder there isn't exactly a drug store on the island and you and I have sex more times in one day then most married couples do in a week." She was trying to gauge his reaction, but alls she could see was shock. "Fox? Honey, are you mad?" She asked quietly. "Dana no." He said hugging her to him. "Oh no. I'm not mad. I'm estatic. I'm- we're gonna have a baby!" He yelled happily. Scully burst into tears and buryed her face in his chest. "Uh Dana, I have a feeling those aren't happy tears. You don't want this baby?" "Yes, yes. More than anything Fox. This is our child, but what kind of life is this for him or her? It was great with just the two of us, I mean I had you all to myself, and we're adults we can deal with this sort of thing. We had a childhood with friends, and books we could read and learn from. We have nothing for this baby Fox, nothing. They don't deserve to be brought into this sort of place. I want more for my baby Mulder. I want more for *our* baby." She said crying. "I know." He said holding her close. "I know that this will be hard, but we can do this. As long as we're together Dana. As long as we're together." She pulled away and looked up at him. "I love you so much." She whispered. "I know. I love you so much. And I love our baby." He bent down and kissed her stomach. They got up and walked back to their home, passing the poisonous red berries that neither of them even touched. ******************************************************** Unknown Island eight and a half months after finding out she is preganant Mulder enjoyed watching his wife grow throughout the months. Because he knew that a little child, his child, was growing inside her. They'd prepared as best as they could. Mulder made a crib for the baby and Dana made some blankets and little clothes out of some of her remaing clothes. Scully had taken to waddling now. Mulder thought it was cute, but Scully was not at all amused. In fact all through her pregnancy, she had been rather grouchy and very emotional. Mulder delt with it though and soon they would have a new baby. That night as they lay down to go to sleep Scully jumped and sat straight up. At least she tried to, she rolled on top of Mulder instead. He sat up and sat her up. "What is it? What's the matter?" He asked her, getting worried. "My water broke. Oh my gosh, we're having the baby." She was wide- eyed and beginning to panic. "We are? Oh-" "OHHHHHHHHHHH!!" She gasped as a contraction hit her. He tried to stay calm. Scully had gone over what to do when she went into labor. Now it was just a matter of remembering it..... "MUUUULDEEEEEEEEEERRRRRR!!!!!" She screamed. He jumped and cleared his head. "Oh, okay um breath." He said ackwardly. "I AM!" She said between breaths. "Oh. Well now what do I do?" He asked, sounding and feeling like kid. "Hee hee just-hold-my-hand hee hee..." She spoke between puffs. He did so. Labor had gone on for hours. It was long and very painful for Scully, who didn't have any pain killers. Soon with one unbearable need to push, she squeezed the edge of the bed with her hands as she pushed with all her might. "Okay honey I can see the head! Come on now sweetie." He watched with amazement, as his little wife pushed and screamed in pain, and a small crying baby came out. "It's out Dana. Honey you did it! It's a boy Dana we have a baby boy." He yelled, as he wiped off the crying infant. He cut the cord carefully and brought him to his mother. She lay there panting and sweating. "Oh....mmbaby. Mudder hiname." Her voice was strained and slurred together. "middlename is Fox." With that she allowed her head to fall back and she said nothing more. "Dana? Da-guess it's just you an me kid. Your mommy's asleep." He looked at his baby boy and felt tears of joy running down his cheeks. Hmm she said 'Fox' was his middle name. Huh. Well at least it was only his middle name. That left him to the first name. He thought for a moment and then smiled. He walked over to the homemade crib and put his son, William Fox Mulder down for a nap. ********************************************************* Unknown Island Three days after Williams birth Scully cooed and jiggled her baby boy. The baby gurgled and made baby sounds, making her laugh. She never thought she'd have a baby. It still amazed her how small he was. She touched his tiny feet, making him curl up in a ball against her chest. She played with his tiny hands and studyed his perfect, little face. William was a perfect mix of them both. He had Scully's nose, thank God, and her bright blue eyes. He had reddish brown hair, which seemed to lean more towards brown. And he had Mulder's devestatingly gorgeous smile and his pouty mouth. William Mulder was a heart-breaker alright. Mulder came up behind her and put two gentle arms around her waist. "Guess who." He said resting his chin on her shoulder. "Mel Gibson?" She asked smiling. "Not even close. Dana you wound me." He said pouting. "Oh I know! John Travolta." She was wearing a big smile now. Mulder put a hand to his heart. "Well at least my son knows who I am. Right munch mouth?" William burped. "Thanks a lot you." Mulder said grinning. "Oh Mulder-" "Ha! You do know who I am!" He yelled. "Of coarse Fox. I just remembered something." "You aren't really a red-head?" She elbowed him smiling. "Not quite. Tonight is the, you know." Mulder nodded slowly. Now he had to tell her. He couldn't hide this any longer. "Dana, I have something to tell you that I should have told you from the start." He said looking her in the eyes. Scully saw the seriousness of his expression and put William down in his crib. "What is it Fox?" She asked, when she'd settled the baby. "When we were not getting along and we separated I went somewhere. Somewhere I shouldn't have." Scully knew what he was talking about instantly. "What did you find?" She asked quietly. He took a deep breath. "A stone god. An Altar." "Oh no." "Scully that's not all. They sacrifice humans Scully." Her eyes became frightened. "No we aren't in danger. It's William I'm worried about." "What? No Mulder no. Don't say it." She said turning away and shaking her head. "Scully, they're sacrificing children." He said quietly. "Oh Fox." She was shaking and looking into Williams crib. "What'll we do?" She asked helplessly. "I don't think he's in any immediate danger, Scully. The bones I saw belonged to kids ages three and up." He tried to be reassuring, but he wasn't at all sure how safe they were. "They don't even know we're here." "But Mulder what about tonight. He's a baby Mulder, he might cry and they' ll know and they'll come and take him. They'll take my baby from me!" She cried. He pulled her to him and held her. He wanted to try and quell her fears, but the truth was, he was afraid for his son's life as well. And who's to say they won't kill them as well. Their island family life was not what he wanted it to be. Because now they had a real reason to be afraid. Afraid for their baby. ********************************************************** Unknown island thirteen months after Wills birth Certain times of the months had been terrible for the family. When William was a baby he could sense the tension from his parents, causing him to cry at inopportune times. They had been safe for awhile but Dana was still afraid and so was Mulder. That month when they came, William was teething. They tried to quiet him but, he cried and cried. The drums had ceased they're rythem and she was sure they'd come and kill them all that night. But nothing happened. The incident had scared them enough to think of a plan. Mulder was working on the plan for the last month. Despite the tensness on the island, there was also joy. William was a one year old now. A very rambunctious one year old. He toddled all over the island, looking for mischief. Scully had to watch him constantly. He liked to swim and they talked to him all the time so he would have a good one-year-old vocabulary. They told him about his grandparents and their jobs and their friends. It was only when William napped that Mulder and Scully ever got to be alone. That was when they got intimate. They didn't mind the tidious hours though. They loved their baby boy. Scully was running down the beach William toddling after her, squeeling. He fell down in the sand, laughing and Scully turned and scooped him up. She spyed Mulder farther down the beach. He looked troubled. "Let's go see what's wrong with daddy." She cooed. "Da!" The baby yelled. Scully laughed and approached Mulder. His grave face, smiled with some difficulty. He was looking at William's crib. "Honey, what's the matter?" She asked. He glanced at William. She took this as a cue that what ever this was, he didn't want William to hear. She set him down on the ground and he set to work on digging holes in the sand a little away from them. "Fox?" "Did you see this?" His voice was tight, as he motioned to the crib. She peered down at it and gasped. There was an ugly looking face carved into it. "It's the same stone figure they worship on the other side of the island." He ranted. Her blood ran cold. "But," She glanced at William to make sure he was still there. "but when did they," "I don't know. But what I do know is that we aren't safe here, anymore. It's five days until they come. And there is no doubt in my mind that they will come for him." She felt her knees buckle and Mulder caught her before she fell. "Oh no not my baby." She whimpered into his chest. "Oh Fox, what'll we do?" She asked desperatly and looking at William. "I'll be done with the boat tomorrow. If I can't think of anything else by tommorrow then there's nothing else we can do but put as much distance between us and the island as possible." He said, watching his son closely, as though something would come from the forest and grab him. They held eachother close and watched William play in the sand. He got up and toddled over to them, holding up a shell triumphantly. "Ba!" He screamed at them. He wore Mulder's grin. Scully smiled and belt down to pick him up. "Thank you William." She said, smiling. They held him sandwiched between them both. William was enjoying every moment of it and even sang a meaningless song for them. They would be okay. Neither of them would let anything happen to their child. Even if it meant leaving the place they found eachother, made a family in, and the place they called home for over two years. ******************************************************* Unknown island thirteen months after Wills birth Scully woke up that morning to find William playing with her long hair. Actually he poked her in the eye. She yelped and he laughed, clapping his hands. "Ya, I'm glad you enjoyed that." She said, tickling him. He laughed and squirmed in her arms. Scully refused to put William in his crib, so he slept with his mommy and daddy that night. She looked over on the other side of the bed. Mulder was gone, but she could hear him out working on the boat. She looked at the table, where Mulder had left them breakfast. She smiled. She was so lucky to have him, both of them. She snuggled with William awhile longer and then got out of bed and got dressed, then she dressed William. After having breakfast they wandered outside. William squirmed to get get down at the site of his father. He half ran half toddled into Mulder's waiting arms. "Hey! There's my little man. How are you this morning?" Mulder, asked, not really expecting an answer. William just hugged him warmly about the neck and screamed. "Da!" Mulder hugged him back and soon William was squirming again to get down. He'd spotted something more interesting across the beach. "There ya go buddy." Mulder said, setting his boy down. William promptly toddled towards a sand crab and began to follow it, giggling. Mulder turned to his wife and pulled her to him moaning, softly. She returned the embrace, sighing with content. They kissed passionatly. Mulder took his time to explore her mouth thoroughly with his tongue. Scully in turn dueled with his tongue, hotly. He laid her down in the sand an they began another heated kiss. As they rolled in the sand, on the other side of the beach, William got bord wih the crab and looked at his parents. It looked like fun game they were playing. He began to run to his parents, as their simple good morning kiss got out of hand. Their hips were bucking and Mulder was just about to rip off her clothes, when an extra weight jumped on top of him. They broke their kiss, hearing William's joyous laughter as he ran around his parents. Mulder pushed himself off Scully and scooped up the laughing William. He began to tickle him. "This kid is always laughing." He said through laughs of his own. Scully was laughing too. William was a very affectionate child. He loved to hug his mommy and daddy. Mulder stopped tickling and insteadlifted him up high and gave him a big sloppy kiss on his tummy. William loved those. He crinkled up his little body and giggled, reaching for his mommy. He wanted her to join in the fun. As Mulder continued his loud sloppy kisses on Williams front, Scully hugged him from the back and buried her face in his back, planting kisses all over. The family played in the sand and for the day, forgot the trouble at hand. And Williams sweet baby laugh was heard all over the island. ******************************************************** A two days later Mulder had finished the boat. It wasn't big, but large enough to hold his family and some supplies. The day was drawing near and there was much tension on the island. William could sense it radiating off his parents and he didn't like it. "Fox did you ever even think of where we'd go if we do have to leave?" Scully was sitting next to Mulder on the beach, watching William amused himself with that sand crab. "Will we ever go home?" She turned to him, waiting for an answer. "We could come back here." He answered, automatically. She turned to look at him sharply. "Did you hear what you just said?" Mulder looked confused. She continued. "When I said 'home' you refered to here." Mulder blinked. "Well wouldn't you? Dana, we've been here for over two years. We found eachother here, we had William here. We've barely talked about our old lives. They all probably think we're dead. And frankly I like it here. It's peacful, it's paradise." "Correction it *was* paradise. I like it here too. I love it here. I realize that this is a way of escape from civilization. I know everyone wants a chance like that, but we have no other choice. No place is a safe haven Mulder. Not even here." Mulder sighed. "Well where do we go? We don't know where we are. That boat won't keep us for however long we have to stay out there." He said. "I know I know it's just that...Fox." She lay her head on his shoulder and he pulled her to him. She hated to feel so trapped. So did he for that matter. They sat like that for awhile, watching the waves and watching William follow the crab. When he almost followed it into the water She jumped up and picked him up. "You little scamp!" She said said spinning him around, laughing. Mulder smiled at them and got up to work once again. How could they leave this place? Where would they go? He sighed and went to work again. A little while later Scully was sitting on the beach, weaving a blanket, and watching William out of the corner of her eye. Mulder had gone for some wood and William was walking around the beach looking for something to do. William was very bored. His mommy looked busy, his daddy wasn't there and the sand crab was no where to be seen. William ran over to his mother and pulled on her arm. "Hello there little one." She mumbled. He pulled on her arm again and began to whine. "Maaama pay." He wanted to play. She put down her blanket and looked at him smiling. "You wanna play." She stated, nuzzling his nose with hers. He giggled and kissed her nose. "Okay pookie boy. Lemme just go put this away. Stay here for mommy." She ran into the house. William saw something red out of the corner of his eye. Scully was only in the house a minute when she came back out to find William stooped at the berry bushes. The red ones that they never ate. "No! William no!" She ran over to him and pushed away the berrys he had in his hands and opened his mouth. "Oh baby, did you eat any of these?! Did any of these get in your mouth?!" She asked frantically. William began to cry. Mulder was walking back up the beach when he saw Scully stooped in front of William yelling. He ran over to them. William was crying and Scully was holding him. "Dana? Dana what is it?" "Fox he ate them. He ate the berries. I only turned my back for a minute and....oh" "Scully calm down." Mulder said, not at all sounding calm himself. "Are you sure they're poisonous?" "Yes Mulder I'm almost positive they are." She said her eyes closed. "It' s okay baby, shhh don't cry. Mommy didn't mean to yell. I'm sorry honey." She soothed the crying baby. "How much did he eat?" he asked. "I don't-I don't know. I didn't see. We need to leave here Mulder. We need to leave here now." "But Scully-" "No. If we stay he's dead and he's sick I can't treat him here. I don't know how much he ate and. Either way he's dead." She whimpered. "Please Fox. We have to leave." She was pleading now and he knew it. But she was right. They had no other choice. "Get some food and supplies Stuff that'll fit. We'll leave as soon as we can." He said quietly. She nodded and looked at William. He was whimpering now and hiccuping. She smoothed back his red-brown hair and picked him up and went into the house. They had put as much as they could in the boat and they were just about ready to leave. Mulder stood at the end of the beach and looked around. This was his home for over two years. The happiest two years of his life. He felt a warmth behind him. Scully stood there with William, looking sad. Even William looked solemn as he looked at the beach. After one last look back they piled into the boat and Mulder shuved off. The current helped them part of the way then Mulder used the paddles he made. Slowly the island became smaller and smaller. ***************************************************** A week after leaving island Mulder was getting tired of paddling. He and Scully would trade off once and awhile. But it was mostly him doing it. William was getting very ancy and he was looking very pale, despite his tan. The food supply was now gone. All of a sudden Mulder felt something pull at the paddle. Scully saw the fin. "Oh my gosh Mulder it's a shark!" She yelled pulling William closer. Mulder's eyes widened and he searched the water frantically. He caught sight of it an threw the paddle at it. "Mulder are you crazy!?" Scully yelled at him. "Stay down!" He yelled back. After jabbing at the shark as best he could, it finally bit into it and pulled. "Oh God." Scully muttered a prayer heavenward, feeling the boat tilt. "Mulder let it go." He threw a look at her. "Let it go!" He let go. The shark had what it wanted and they were left in the middle of the ocean to drift. "Great." He muttered. "Just great." He said nodding and looking at Scully. "Don't look at me! You threw the first one! What else could we do?" She yelled back in frustration. "Nothing." He stated simply, staring out into the ocean. She crawled over to him with William in her arms. "I'm sorry." She said. Mulder shook his head. "Don't be sorry. Where the fu-uh hech were we going anyway?" He asked her. She just stayed quiet layed her head on his chest. The sun had set and the stars where coming out. He lay down on the bottom of the boat with her at his side and William sleeping on top of him. It grew cold as night descended upon them. "Dana?" He asked suddenly. "Hm?" "When was the last time I told you I loved you?" She was quiet for a moment. "You tell me everyday. Not by words but I know." She said quietly. "Well I love you. I love you and William more than anything. I just want you to know that." Scully teared up and said. "I love you too Fox." She was silent for awhile and then, "Fox, are we going to die out here? William has a fever and.....I'm hungry." He let in a deep shuddering breathe. "If you're tired Dana, just sleep. It's okay to close your eyes. I'll be right here." "I wouldn't want to be any other place." She whispered. She as so tired. "Just sleep." "Mm, okay." Her eyelids closed. Scully had lost consciousness. Mulder felt her go limp next to him. He was tired as well. He closed his eyes as well and slowly slipped into the darkness that was beakoning him. **************************************************** Paradise By Madame F (part 3) USS Navy Ship South Pacific "Captain take a look at this. We have something on radar." "What is it Luitenant?" The broad man asked. "I'm not sure it looks like a ship. A really small ship." The large vessel approached the small floating boat. They sent down a small ship and rowed over to them and peered into the boat. The brown-haired man let some wind pass through his lips. "Oh my gosh." he turned to gauge the expressions of his fellow officers. They were open mouthed and wide eyed. "Hey! We've got people down here!" They looked awfully pale especially the baby. Carefully leaning over he checked for any signs of life. "They're alive!" He yelled. "Make sure a medical team is standing by!" There in the boat lay three sparsly dressed white humans. A tall lanky man, a petite red-headed woman, and a small child, obviously their offspring. They got them onto the ship and radioed their base in California. The docter shook his head. They'd started on the child first. "We need to get some fluids into him. All of them. They're dihydrated. I don't even know how they survived this long." He muttered. The docter moved to the woman's body and gasped. "What is it Docter?" The attendant who was helping him, asked. "I know this woman. Diana, Da-Dana Scully. She's Charlie Scully's sister, I'm almost positive, but..." He stuttered, turning pale. "What's the matter John? You look like you've seen a ghost." She replied. He shook his head. "I think I am. Charlie's sister died in a plane crash over two years ago." "Yea I read about that. Her partner was with her as well. They were with the FBI. But no bodies were ever found. They were marked as dead and the case was closed." She looked at them again "I guess they weren't as dead as they thought." **************************************************** Orange Grove Hospital California November 22, 2000 Scully woke up, feeling very groggy. She opened her eyes and had to close them again to be sure she was seeing correctly. She was in a hospital room. But how....? The last thing she remembered was lying in a boat with Mulder and a little boy. No *her* little boy. Her and Mulder's baby. It wasn't a dream. They'd been rescued. Wait, maybe this was a dream. She shut her eyes and moaned because of the pain in her abdomen. She looked around. Mulder wasn't there and neither was her baby. Now she was beginning to panic. She didn't even know where in the world she was. Before she could work herself up a nice blond woman came in to check her blood preassure. She was obviously expecting no change because she just went about her business without looking at her. The nurse finally looked at her, upon hearing her moan. "Well look who's up." The nurse said smiling warmly. "Where's my baby." Her voice was scratchy and harsh. "Oh, you mean the little boy that they found you with. The charts told us that there is suspicion that you'd given birth. He's in pediatrics. He's fine now. And the man he 's still asleep. He hasn't woken up yet." The nurse saw the look of fright sweep across the womans face. "It's okay. He's just really dehydrated. He isn't in any real danger any more. Oh by the way I'm nurse Feinberg. You can call me Trish." Scully nodded. "Where are we?" She asked, with difficulty. "Orange County." At the red head's look of confusion she added. "California." Scully nodded. "Um miss. We are going to have to ask you some questions. A navy ship found you, the man, and the baby, floating in the ocean in a boat." Why is she refering to us us as 'the man' and 'the baby' and 'miss'? Scully asked herself. "There is some suspicion as to who you might be, but three of you came in as Jane and John Doe and John Doe Jr." Scully smiled at that. "My name is Scully, Dana Scully-Mulder. I'm with the FBI. The man in the other room is Fox Mulder. He's with the FBI as well. John Doe Jr. is our son, William Fox Mulder." Scully said. The nurse was open mouthed. "What." Scully asked. "I-I'm sorry for staring, but it's like looking at a ghost. They were right. This is incredible. Huh, You're alive. Oh sorry. Over two years ago the whole country was hung up on the mysterious dissappearance of two FBI agents and their pilot over the Pacific. The navy docter who brought you all in said that he was almost positive he knew you. That he knew you through your brother." She sighed "It is you. I need to carry this information to the coast gaurd so they can contact the proper authorities. Some one will come in and check on you in awhile." She said bustling out. Scully sat there a moment and looked around. They'd actually been rescued, after so long. Her mother would have a heart attack. ************************************************************** Three days later After throwing a proper fit, Mulder found that he could get anything he wanted. The nurses had gone to get William. Finally. He woke up the first time to find Scully at his bedside in a wheelchair. He found that he couldn't sleep without her by his side, so after turning on the charms they'd moved Scully into his room. He was now in the process of coaxing the nurses to move William into this room as well. Scully was sitting in the wheelchair by his bedside. They hadn't talked about what to do with their marriage yet. Mulder looked down at Scully and tugged on a long strand of hair. She looked up at him. He patted the bed and opened his arms. She smiled and moved up onto the bed. He held her in his arms and sighed. "William must be so scared." She said suddenly. "All of those new faces. I mean he's seen us all his life and now we're not there. I miss him." She finished, sighing loudly. Mulder nodded in agreement. "I miss him too. Dana, we'll be okay." he said. "Fox we aren't really married now we.." "Hey," He said turning her around in his arms, so that she was facing him. "You *are* my wife. In here," He motioned to his heart. "always." He whispered. His lips grazed hers. "And you will always be my husband." She whispered back. They sealed that vow with a kiss. They broke the kiss and embraced one another. ********************************************************** Orange Grove Hospital California November 26, 2000 Skinner walked briskly into the lobby of the hospital with Jackie St. George at his heals. They had gotten a call that three people had been found floating in a boat ten days ago. Two of the people matched the description of his two deceased agents. They never did find the bodies or the wreckage. So Skinner came out of curiosity and duty. He'd have believed it was them right away if not for the fact that the third passanger was a small child. He hadn't informed Mrs. Scully or Mrs. Mulder because of this fact. Which is why he was suprised to see Maggie Scully come into the lobby. "Maggie?" Jackie called out. Maggie Scully looked up. "Jackie! Mr. Skinner. I assume you heard about the people they found. Charlie called me, to let me know. He didn't want me to come down, but I had to. Caroline couldn't come. The stroke and all." Maggie was nervous and she was blabbering. She hadn't dealt with Dana's death very well. Neither had Jackie. After awhile even Jackie started to believe that they weren't coming back and that hurt the most. "We all want to know who they are." Skinner said. He went to the information desk and a nurse looked up at him. "I'm Walter Skinner of the FBI. Could you tell us where the John and Jane Does are being kept?" "Oh yes, Room 107." She said. "Thankyou." He replied. They finally found room 107 and now they just stood there. "Look we are all afraid of the same thing. That it isn't them and we came here for nothing, but we've delt with their....deaths before. We can deal with it again if it's not them." Jackie stated, unsurly. They nodded and Jackie was about to open the door when Maggie spoke up. "Shouldn't we knock?" Jackie smiled at that and knocked. "Come in." Came a female voice that sounded ghostly familiar. The three of them walked in and stared at the people lying in the bed as they stared back. "God Almighty." Jackie whispered. Maggie's lower lip was trembling. "Oh Dana is that you? Is that really you?" Scully's own lips were trembling. "Mom." She crawled out of the bed and Maggie ran to her daughter, crying. "Oh Dana! We thought...Oh my baby girl. After so long." "Mom." Was all Dana got out. Jackie was across the room and hugging Mulder. "You dirty sonuva- Don't you ever die again!" Jackie yelled at him, fighting back tears. Scully came over and Jackie hugged her too. "I missed you so much!" She said, letting the tears flow freely now. "I know, I missed you too." Scully replied with tears in her eyes. Skinner just stood back, amazed at these two once again. He shook his head. Once again those two always seemed to find a way to cheat death. "How do you two do that." He muttered. "You get a knack for it sir." Mulder replied. Skinner actually laughed and shook Mulder's hand. He was suprised when Scully hugged him. He was suprised, but he didn't mind. "All right I want the whole story." Jackie said, pulling up a chair. Before they could open their mouths, the door opened. A nurse came in holding a baby boy, less than two year old. "Here ya go. He wouldn't stop crying for you. He stopped about fifteen minutes ago. Oh he's got his daddy's smile. He'll be a heartbreaker just like his daddy, that's for sure. Driving all the nurses wild, if not crazy. He really is a cutie." The nurse cooed, handing William to Scully, causing the three people in the room to drop their jaws.. "Who William or Mulder?" Scully asked. The nurse laughed and handed her a bottle for William. William squealed when he saw his parents. "Ma-Ma!" He screamed, clapping his hands. He hugged Scully around the neck tightly. She squeezed back. "Ohh my baby. How is mommy's little man hm? How's my little man?" She hugged him again and William reached for a kiss from his daddy. "Hey there munchkin. You been a good boy for the nurses?" Mulder asked, planting a kiss on William's cheek and hugging him. "Da-da! dadadadada...." William began a little baby chant and reached for his bottle. Scully began to feed him and Mulder tickled his little feet lightly. Jackie, Skinner, and Maggie were stunned into silence. As they watched Mulder and Scully with the small child that resembled them so much, the pieces fit into place. When the coast gaurd called they said that the third passenger found was a small child. Mulder and Scully were here. And so was a small child with Scully's enigmatic, wide, blue eyes, and her nose. And Mulder's unmistakeble grin. Oh. My. Goodness. There was no mistaking who this child's parents were. "Um Dana?" Came Maggie's unsure voice. Scully looked up at her mother. The way she'd said her name said that she wanted answers and she wanted them now. Scully looked at Mulder, who was looking at her. You do it, he said through their gaze. Skinner ansd Jackie saw the familiar silent conversation, but this time it was somewhat different. It was more.......intimate. "Um well, I guess we should start at the beginning." Scully started shifting William a bit. "Well we were on our way to China when we heard the noise in the plane. There was an explosion and the plane went down. I don't know how but Mulder and I survived, but the pilot was not so lucky. He's buried on the beach of God-knows-where. We still don't know. After some walking , we figured out that we were on a deserted island." "What!" That came from Skinner. "How is that possible?" "We don't know. It is probably one of those islands that either noone knows about or everyone leaves alone. There where natives there. They came every month to sacrifice to a stone god. After some snooping, Mulder found out that it was children being sacrified. We'd been there for almost two years when we actually had something to worry about." She looked down at William. "On the island...Mulder and I, we realized how much we mean to one another. This is a symbol of our love. Our son, William Fox Mulder." she looked up at them. Maggie's mouth was hanging open as was Jackie's and Skinner's. Maggie got over the suprise first. "You mean to tell me that it took a three year stay on a deserted island to get you two together and get me a grandson?" She asked getting up to go to their bedside. "This cute little one is my grandson?" She asked with tears in her eyes. Scully nodded and turned to William. "William? Do you remember me telling you about grandma Scully?" She asked the little boy. William's ears perked up. "Gamma!" He screamed. Scully motioned to Maggie. "That's Grandma Scully right there." She said. William looked at Maggie and then noticed the other people in the room. He turned to his daddy and Mulder nodded. He looked back at Maggie. She had his mommy's eyes and his daddy's hair. He liked this lady. "Ga-ma." William reached out to Maggie, grinning. Maggie made an 'oh' with her mouth as she scooped up the little boy and he touched her face and studied her. A baby giggle bubbled up out of him and he hugged her tightly around the neck. "Oh what a sweetie. I'm so happy for you and Fox. When is the wedding?" Maggie asked not wasting any time. "Um, we don't know." Scully said, looking at Mulder. "We figured we'd wait until we got back on track. We'd live together of coarse, it's best for the baby." "Your old jobs are still available. I'll have to pull a few strings, but I think I can get the x-files back on track as well. But I don't want to see you two at the office for at least three weeks." Skinner said eyeing the baby. Amazing. Jackie got over her suprise and walked over to them. "Now didn't I always tell you that you two were made for eachother. You had to wait till you were stuck on an island to get it on. Was it romantic? I want details later Dana." Scully nodded, smiling. After awhile of visiting, Mulder, Scully, and they 're baby were left to themselves to rest. Maggie closed the room softly behind them. "I knew a good vacation is what they needed." she stated. Shaking his head, Skinner followed Jackie and Maggie. Three weeks later Mulder and Scully were married by Washington DC law. The End I know the end was weak. Email me and tell me were I should have finished. I'll change it. I like constructive criticism!
